At La Casa de la Langosta, our story does not begin in the kitchen, it begins at sea. Every dawn marks the start of our process: the daily catch, the direct connection with those who know and respect the waters of Cahuita, and the careful selection of the freshest gifts the Caribbean offers.

Since 1992, we have dedicated our lives to working with the sea's finest, understanding its rhythms, its textures, its soul. Our cuisine is born from the Afro-Caribbean roots of our community, where recipes are not written down, they are inherited. Ancient techniques, deep flavors, and living memories passed from generation to generation.

Roberto Smikle Smikle is not simply a chef, he is a living heritage. A descendant of the fifth generation of fishermen from the Caribbean coast of Cahuita, Limón, he has spent more than 55 years at sea, mastering the art of fishing and diving with the knowledge only the ocean can teach.

In 1992, he founded La Casa de la Langosta, not as a business venture, but as an act of identity. A place where the flavors of his Creole culture, his grandmother's recipes, and the freshest catch from Caribbean waters could be offered to the world with dignity and pride.

Today, Chef Roberto is recognized nationally and internationally as a master custodian of Costa Rican Caribbean gastronomy, a farmer, a diver, a fisherman, and above all, a keeper of tradition.
